Reverse Osmosis Systems for
Clean, Great-Tasting Water

Tired of tap water that smells funky, tastes weird, and makes you question every sip? Give your family fresh, clean water—straight from the tap.

Removes Up to 99% of Contaminants

Better Tasting Water

Satisfaction Guaranteed

Your Water Shouldn’t Look, Smell, or Taste Like That…

If your water smells odd, tastes off, or leaves residue in your glassware, you’re not imagining things. Even treated city water can contain chlorine, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and other contaminants you’d rather not drink. A reverse osmosis system filters out the bad stuff—so you get crisp, clean, great-tasting water right from the tap.

Chlorine Taste or Smell?

That’s disinfectant residue—and yes, it’s in most city water.

Chemical or Musty Odor?

That could be VOCs or sulfur compounds. RO removes them at the membrane level.

Strange Taste in Coffee or Tea?

It’s often trace minerals or chlorides affecting flavor. RO clears it up.

Cloudy or Milky Water?

That’s air bubbles or dissolved solids—not exactly appetizing.

What’s the Right System for Your Water?

Water treatment isn’t one-size-fits-all—and that’s why we offer more than one solution. At Jake Miller Plumbing, we install both under-sink reverse osmosis systems and whole-home water softeners, because each is designed to solve a different kind of water problem.

Under-Sink (Point-of-Use) Reverse Osmosis System

Best For: Homeowners who want purified water from a specific faucet—usually the kitchen sink.

How It Works:
This system is installed under your kitchen sink and uses multi-stage filtration (including a reverse osmosis membrane) to remove contaminants like chlorine, lead, fluoride, and PFAS. It delivers clean, great-tasting water to a dedicated faucet—perfect for drinking, cooking, coffee, and ice.

WHOLE-HOME (POINT-OF-ENTRY) WATER SOFTENER

Best For: Homeowners dealing with hard water throughout the house—dry skin, soap scum, or scale buildup on fixtures and appliances.

How It Works:
A water softener is installed where water enters your home. It removes hardness minerals like calcium and magnesium through ion exchange, protecting your plumbing and improving how your water feels for bathing, laundry, and cleaning.

Reverse Osmosis Filtration System FAQS

Still Have Questions? We’ve Got Answers

What is a reverse osmosis filtration system and how does it work?

A reverse osmosis (RO) system is a highly effective water filtration system designed to remove dissolved solids and contaminants from drinking water. It works by forcing water through a semi-permeable membrane, which blocks impurities like chlorine, fluoride, lead, arsenic, nitrates, and certain pesticides.

Most under-sink RO systems also include pre-filters (to remove sediment and larger particles) and post-filters (to improve taste), delivering purified water through a dedicated faucet at your sink. The result is clean, crisp water that’s ideal for drinking, cooking, coffee, and ice.

How much does it cost to install a reverse osmosis system?
The cost can vary depending on the type of system and where it’s installed. Most under-sink RO systems range from $200–$600 for the unit, with installation adding $150–$300. At Jake Miller Plumbing, we can walk you through your options and give you a clear, upfront estimate.
Will an RO system work if I have well water?

Yes, an under-sink reverse osmosis (RO) system can be a great option for well water—but it depends on the specific quality of your water. Since well water often contains higher levels of sediment, iron, or even bacteria, additional pre-treatment may be needed to protect the RO system and ensure it performs effectively.

In many cases, we recommend installing a sediment pre-filter or addressing any water hardness or microbial concerns before the water reaches the RO unit. We can test your well water and recommend the right combination of filters to ensure you get clean, safe, great-tasting water at the tap.

Do I need a reverse osmosis system if I already have a water softener?
It depends on what’s in your water. A softener removes minerals like calcium and magnesium (which cause hard water), but a reverse osmosis (RO) system filters out things like chlorine, lead, and nitrates. In a lot of Indy suburbs (like Beech Grove, Shelbyville, New Palestine, Greenwood, etc), having both systems gives you the best results.
What’s the best water filtration system for homes in Avon or Brownsburg?
We recommend testing your water first—especially if you’re on a private well or have older plumbing. In many cases, a reverse osmosis system under the sink combined with a softener or iron filter gives you the best protection and taste.
Can Jake Miller Plumbing install a reverse osmosis system in older homes?
Definitely. Whether your house is 5 years old or 50, we can install an RO system that fits your plumbing and your needs. We work on a lot of older homes, so we know how to handle outdated setups without surprises.
How often should I service my RO system in areas with hard water?

In many of the areas we serve, hard water can shorten the lifespan of reverse osmosis filters—especially pre-filters and carbon stages. For optimal performance, we typically recommend checking and replacing filters every 6 to 12 months, depending on your water quality and usage.

To make maintenance effortless, we offer our Plumber for Life Maintenance Program. We’ll track your system’s service schedule, perform routine maintenance, and ensure everything is operating efficiently—so you don’t have to worry about a thing. Just let us know when it’s convenient, and we’ll take care of the rest.
